WHY THIS COMPANY EXISTS

Classical ballet has spent centuries telling Black dancers that the art form was not built for them. It shows in who trains, who gets cast, and who feels welcome in the audience.
NBTOA was founded to close that gap in one specific place: metro Atlanta. We are assembling a company of professional dancers drawn from every background, performing classical, neoclassical, and contemporary work — the full repertoire, danced to the standard the repertoire demands.
And we are taking it to the neighbourhoods that rarely get it.

We are not asking anyone to fund a hope. Here is the sequence, and where we are in it right now.
2025
Company incorporated on 22 November. 501(c)(3) status secured. Artistic leadership in place.
WE ARE HERE
2026
Building the founding board. Signing in-kind partners for studio and venue space. First open studio showings
2027
Company auditions. First ticketed one-act. Education programme piloted with metro Atlanta schools.
2028
Full company contracted. Inaugural season announced. Subscriptions and single tickets on sale.
2028-2029
Opening season. Our first full-length classical ballet, with school matinees built into the run.
